Speakers, Topics and Discounts

Hi All,

Your (dis-)organizing team is in the frantic sprint to get Ontario GNU Linux Fest in order for this year. Less than two weeks to go, and our families and friends are starting to notice how much coffee we are consuming. You are going to enjoy what we have planned for you this year. We (the organizing committee) would love to take all the credit but you know better than that.

Thank you!

As always, there is no reason to put this event on if you don't attend. So thank you for registering in advance, and for enjoying the event from welcome party to wrap-up party.
Some new and returning sponsors have committed to supporting our community-based F/LOSS event.

Google, eSolutions Group and NetDirect have been with us from the start, IBM and Linux Pro Magazine are back for 2009. Their commitment keeps us going and their sponsorship pays for room rental, conference coffee, and big projectors.

Novell is back in a big way for 2009. Thank you Novell for your Gold-level support this year.

The newest commitments to F/LOSS come from Braithwaite Technology Consultants, Microlite Corporation and CI Gear. Thank you for joining us. You'll enjoy meeting with them and learning about their use of F/LOSS in their products and services.

Individual sponsors

It is gratifying to see folks participating in our Individual sponsor program this year. You can choose to pay extra to attend, and we'll give you some extra schwag. You can even put your face on the site http://2009.onlinux.ca/indysponsors to show your support publicly. The schwag has been ordered so we have a hard cut-off on how many can participate. I hope you enjoy the our tokens of appreciation as much as we appreciate your support.

Speakers and topics

I'm blown away by our speakers every year. They commit the time and expense to join us and then they share their wealth of experience. What a wonderful group! This year might be the best group yet. We're going over the talks and rooms now and we'll try to arrange it so your first and second favourites are not head to head. But I know that the most-common feedback we'll hear will be "too many good talks; I couldn't attend them all!"

Have a look at the talks posted on the site. There really is something for everyone. Even rank beginners and proprietary-software-refugees will be able to join us, get up to speed, and be inspired by the potential and diversity of F/LOSS for their application.

Advance registration

Registration is ahead of previous years and we might even reach capacity on the venue. Register now so we can hold a spot for you. http://2009.onlinux.ca/olfreg Advance registration will end Friday 16 October 2009. We know you wait for the last minute. We just don't know why? Let us know you are coming. Admission is $60 at the door. Admission will be cut off when we reach capacity at the venue.

Spread the word

Do you have a friend or colleague that would enjoy Ontario GNU Linux Fest? Send them a note. Forward this message. Or just pester them 'til they register. We'd love to have them join us too.

Now I have to get back to working on the show guide. I'm the one in chage of tpyos and speeling this yar. So I know you'll enjoy the guide. See you in under two weeks.

Best regards,
Richard and the whole OGLF team.
